Tiger mask is one of the astounding features of the Bhutanese traditional festival Known as 'Tsechu'. Besides its magnificent appearance and coloring it also possesses huge cultural and spiritual values widely known for its power to keep away the bad spirits and evils. Tiger is a respected symbol in Buddhist mythology symbolizing unconditional confidence, disciplined awareness, kindness and modesty. It is relaxed yet energized; resting in a gentle state of being with a natural sense of satisfaction and fulfillment. It is highly composed of Himalayan woods that provide exceptional durability and dyes. Tiger masks are famously known for its appealing features and thus can be used as a decoration at homes or workplaces.

Ugyen silvering handicraft is an independent handicraft shop specifically dealing with masks, traditional gifts and other handicraft items in Bhutan. 59 years old Mr. Ugyen from Tashigang has been practicing the art of traditional mask carving for more than 30 years and now he is one of the successful artisan in Thimphu. Before venturing into handicraft business he used to run a glossary shop, however, after realizing the tradition of art and craft in Bhutan is at the risk of gradually disappearing, the art of mask carving and handicraft was established.
