The traditional metal tea kettle is usually wrapped on its handle with plastic ropes or cloth to reduce heat conduction. The kettle is called 'Jamji' in local terms. The kettle is a symbolic item you will find in most Bhutanese homes. Traditional butter tea called Suja is prepared in this kettle. The butter tea is a time-honored drink in Bhutan and is ideal for cold temperature regions, keeps one warm, and provides plenty of energy.

Butter tea is usually served with Zaw (puffed rice) or Kabzey (traditional cookies)
